A missed call is a lost job

When a pipe bursts, nobody leaves a voicemail and waits. They call the next shop on the list, and the one after that, until someone picks up. For a plumber, electrician, or HVAC shop, the call that goes to voicemail at 4:30 on a Friday is usually a job that went to someone else.

Most shops know this. The problem is that the people who answer the phone are the same people doing the work. The owner is on a job, the tech is under a sink, and the office, if there is one, closes at five. Answering services help, but a person reading a script doesn't know the service area, which tech is on call, or whether a no-heat call in January is an emergency.

Keep the number

A lot of AI phone products want the shop to switch to a new number. That's a hard ask. The number is on the trucks, the Google listing, and years of fridge magnets. What happens on the call

The agent answers in the shop's name, finds out what's wrong, and sorts emergency from routine. For an emergency it follows the shop's rules for who gets dispatched.
